How to Create a Subdomain in cPanel

  1. Log in to cPanel

    • Access your cPanel dashboard.
  2. Go to the Domains Section

    • Click on Domains from the main dashboard (not Subdomains, as in older versions).
  3. Create a New Domain

    • In the Domains interface, click on Create a New Domain.
    • Enter the full subdomain name (e.g., subdomain.example.com) in the field provided.
  4. Specify the Document Root

    • By default, cPanel will auto-generate a document root for the subdomain (e.g., /home/user/subdomain.example.com). You can leave it as is or customize it to a different folder.
  5. Submit

    • Click Submit or Create Domain to finalize.
  6. Verify the Subdomain

    • After creating the subdomain, you'll see it listed in the Domains interface. You can manage it or access its document root via the File Manager.

Important Notes

  • Access the Subdomain: Once created, you can visit your subdomain (e.g., https://subdomain.example.com) if DNS propagation has been completed.
  • SSL Certificate: Use AutoSSL in cPanel to secure the subdomain with an SSL certificate.
