Prerequisites for All Devices
Before setting up your email, it’s important to choose how your email will be stored and accessed. You have two options:
-
IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol): Recommended if you want to access your email on multiple devices (e.g., phone, computer, tablet). With IMAP, emails are stored on the server, so everything stays synced across all your devices.
-
POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3): Best for single-device access. Emails are downloaded to your device and usually removed from the server, meaning they won’t be accessible from other devices later.
✅ For most users, IMAP is recommended—especially if you check your email on both your phone and computer.
You’ll also need:
-
Your email address (e.g., info@yourdomain.com)
-
Your email password
-
Your domain’s mail server info:
-
Incoming (IMAP/POP):
mail.yourdomain.com
-
Outgoing (SMTP):
mail.yourdomain.com
-
Recommended ports:
-
IMAP: 993 (SSL)
-
POP3: 995 (SSL)
-
SMTP: 465 (SSL)
-
-
???? If SSL doesn’t work, you can use your hosting provider's hostname (e.g., server.netpoa.com
).
